Helen Monroe, author

A word from Helen

Helen Monroe writes guided journals for the seasons nobody prepares you for — when the children leave, when your body changes, when the person you're caring for starts to forget your name.

She lives in the Midwest with her husband, two grown children (mostly), and a very old Labrador named Biscuit.

Her journals are warm, honest, and practical. No toxic positivity, no clinical jargon, no "you're so lucky" — just room to write it all down. She isn't a doctor or a therapist, and her books don't pretend otherwise. What they offer is a page, a prompt, and five minutes that belong to you.

She has strong opinions about advice that arrives on a pastel background and tells you to be grateful.

When she's not writing, Helen is in the garden, on a long walk, or reading two books at once. She loses at trivia night, every time.
